Should IPODS be banned?

Yes Ipods should continue to be banned from school due to the complications that they cause. They have the potential to add complications like angery parents due to damaged, lost, or stolen. But there are some reasons to allow Ipods in school like letting people use them would boost morale which could have a positive effect on test scores. Another reason is that the Ipods can be used to benifit learning if used for research, or to be used as a multi tool for their ability to use the internet, calculater, and dictionary in one compact tool. Even with all these benifits allowing Ipods on campus would increase complaints from people and cerate more problems for the school board.

One of the main problems of allowing Ipods in school is the ability to cheat on tests. since the Ipods have the ability to log in to the internet students could use it to their advantage like looking up

I think Ipods shouldn't be banned there are many good reasons that students can use there ipods for school. It can boost morale during their freetime. Some types of ipods like the ipod touch can surf the web and it also has the ability to download audiobooks and educational podcasts. As well, some scientific research has been conducted and researchers found that upbeat tunes, such as those that are played on the radio, with steady beats help to send off neurons in the brain, which help to motivate and waken students.

One reason Ipods should not be banned is because they can boost up a students murale. Imagine how much stress students have because of their homework; that stress can easily be removed by just listening to your Ipod. But students should know not to use it in class they can use it between the gaps such as passing period, nutrition, and lunch. It's the same thing with teachers too, teachers use their laptops. Perhaps their not using it for what you think they are, maybe they are using it the same way students would; to increase morale.

Morale is not the only reason to have ipods at school some types of ipods have the ability to surf the web and it can also download audiobooks and educational podcasts. Audio lessons can be listened to before class therefore more time to work during class. Some schools are actually required to use Ipods. North Plainfield, N.J., the district has supplied iPods to science teachers to illustrate chemistry concepts, and it is considering allowing students in those classes to use iPods that they have brought from home."It’s an innovation," said Frank Belluscio, a spokesman for the New Jersey School Boards Association, which selected Union City educators to speak about the iPod classes at the group’s annual conference in Atlantic City Oct. 24-26. “Most people think of the iPod as just entertainment".

Not allowing Ipods in school is wrong. Why take it away when it has so many helpful resources. The only argument I see from the other side is that it is a distraction. Personaly I do not find it a distraction to a student that has really low grades and needs improvement. I say an Ipod can help not only to relieve stress but because of its resuorces.

These were my reasons why Ipods should not only not banned but possibly requiered in school. Taking away an Ipod is like taking away a tutor from a student. It can make you happy when you are stressed. It has the ability to download educational podcasts and books. It has also been approved by scientists. So teachers, staff,or anyone who works at the school please do not bann Ipods.
